A Milestone Groundbreaking at Cielo
October 26, 2022

On Friday, October 21st we celebrated an exciting milestone with the Cielo Groundbreaking Event. Friends, family, partners, platinum brokers and key consultants who were instrumental in the project, all gathered for an evening of celebration and entertainment against the backdrop of an extraordinary 19th century landmark, the revered Bloor Street United Church.

Constructed in 1886, the church is currently undergoing what Urban Toronto has called, “a makeover for the ages.” With a heritage restoration overseen by ERA Architects, the striking example of neo-Gothic architecture will soon seamlessly integrate with a sleek new 29-storey residential tower in a statement of refined architectural modernism designed by KPMB. As the future home of Cielo, and one of Bloor Street’s most iconic structures, it was the perfect venue for this momentous event.

Throughout the evening, guests were awed and entertained thanks to a stunning musical performance from Grenville Pinto, whose violin melodies were the perfect soundtrack to the elegant evening. The active construction site was transformed thanks to custom-designed lighting, an impressive scale model where people could view the community, and two 85” multi-media screens that showed the Cielo brand film. A smoke machine at the entrance simulated a shape-shifting cumulus cloud – the artistic cornerstone of the Cielo campaign – and, after receiving a branded gold shovel to commemorate the event, guests were invited to gather for the ceremonial “groundbreaking” followed by a toast with exquisite wines from Stratus Winery and a signature Cielo cocktail garnished with a cotton candy “cloud.”

Natascha Pieper, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Collecdev, took the stage after sunset to give a speech acknowledging the project’s special moment. “I am delighted to celebrate such a significant milestone with my colleagues, industry peers, and the top-performing platinum broker community,” Pieper said, “without which, this success wouldn’t be possible.” She went on to congratulate the sizeable team involved in bringing the project to life, and took a moment to recognize their accomplishments thus far, which have culminated in 17 industry awards, including the 2022 Pinnacle National Award for Multi-Family Community of the Year.”

Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating this historic occasion – the moment where Cielo moves beyond design and planning and into real life, laying the groundwork for an address that will redefine Toronto’s skyline. One day, not long from now, residents will step into a world of uncommon luxury, just steps to designer boutiques on Mink Mile, across from the world-class University of Toronto, above the Bloor Street subway and next to the city’s finest restaurants. And this distinguished group will say, “we were there, and it was magical.”

Stay tuned for more construction updates as Cielo takes shape at 300 Bloor Street West.
