Come see the winning entries from our collaboration with the students at the Claude Watson Secondary Arts Program - Earl Haig

The wait is finally over! The brilliant artworks from Collecdev's collaboration with Claude Watson Secondary Arts Program-Earl Haig campus (CWSAP-EH) are now live and in living colour on the Nørdic hoarding at 500 Wilson Avenue.

Come see the Scandinavian inspired pieces that include polygon animals, traditional red Scandinavian homes, Oslo art sculptures, the breathtaking Northern Lights and angel wings to snap your next Instagram photo. Every piece on the 500’ construction hoarding was inspired by iconic images of Scandinavia and voted on by our team, with a helping hand from our amazing Instagram followers.

An enormous thank you to all the talented grade 11 and 12 CWSA-Earl Haig visual arts students who participated in the contest. The enthusiastic response was confirmation of our commitment to social sustainability, a pillar that drives us to seek creative ways to celebrate art and build community.

"As a current artist and aspiring illustrator, I will undoubtedly come across scenarios where I will work with a client. This collaboration has allowed me to warm up to the concept of working commercially. It’s an opportunity of outreach, which is especially important during a time of isolation." - Jeannette Oh, Grade 12 Visual Arts major

“This was a wonderful opportunity for our senior students to engage in their community as well as commercial art making. We place an emphasis on the applied arts as a part of our senior Claude Watson curriculum and working on this project really afforded us the application of key concepts discussed throughout the year.” - Nazy Sakhavarz, Program Director, CWSAP-Earl Haig

Participating artists each received a $100 gift card to a local art store, with a bonus $500 gift card for the grand prize. In addition, Collecdev will bestow a $1,500 scholarship to CWSAP-EH as a thank you for the collaboration.

“This amazing initiative with CWSAP- EH for Nørdic Condos was such a success that we were inspired to do it again. This partnership exemplifies one of our core beliefs – that art has the power to engage the public and enhance the built environment.” - Natascha Pieper, VP of Sales and Marketing, Collecdev.

Collecdev has collaborated in a second art initiative with the Visual Arts Department at Earl Haig, a design collaboration, inspired by blooming roses and romantic floral motifs, that will grace the lobby at our Westwood Gardens community. Stay tuned for more details. In the meantime, stop by and see the Scandinavian-inspired works on display, framing the site of the future condominium community and providing a beautiful backdrop for the next phase of development.

Nørdic Condos is currently sold out and under construction. In 2020 Nørdic Condos was the Project of the Year winner, recognized by the OHBA Awards of Distinction.
